About FuelStorageGuide
FuelStorageGuide is written by a working fuel-system technician with eight years in the trade.
The day job is inspecting and servicing fuel systems: underground and aboveground tanks, dispensers, piping, valves, and leak detection equipment, plus annual inspections and filter changes on aviation fuel systems.
Most of what goes wrong with stored fuel is preventable, but the good information is scattered across fuel supplier marketing, government PDFs, and forum threads that contradict each other. This site puts it in one place, in plain language, for the people who actually own the tanks.
How guides are written
- Sourced. Every specific number or rule links to the source it came from: industry research, regulators, or the manufacturer. Sources are listed at the bottom of each guide.
- Checked against field experience. Guides are reviewed by someone who services this equipment, and they say so when field practice differs from the textbook.
- Independent. FuelStorageGuide isn't owned by a fuel supplier, additive maker, or equipment brand. Some pages may include affiliate links; see the affiliate disclosure.
- Updated. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
